Medicare Supplement

Medicare Supplement

We work with several different Medicare Supplement insurance providers. Our Advocates can help you find the perfect plan.

It’s understandable to feel concerned about Medicare costs. However, there’s an easy solution that can provide you with peace of mind. Medigap/Supplement insurance plans can help bridge the gap between what original Medicare Parts A and B cover and what you’re responsible for paying. These policies are available through private insurance companies, and our team of knowledgeable advocates can help you choose the best company for your specific needs.

It’s important to keep in mind that you must have Original Medicare (Parts A and B) in order to obtain a Supplement policy. With a Supplement Insurance Plan, you’ll gain valuable coverage that can help pay for out-of-pocket costs under both Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance). While ancillary benefits such as vision, dental, and hearing are not included in these plans, your benefits and coverage will ultimately depend on the specific plan letter type that you select.

There are up to 10 different Medigap basic benefit options to choose from. Plans are labeled A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N. The F Plan is only available to those who turned 65 prior to January 1, 2020. Since Medigap/Supplement policies are regulated by state and federal laws, the basic benefits of plans offered by the same letter type must remain the same regardless of the insurer.

When is open enrollment for a Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan? The open enrollment period begins the first day of the month you turn 65. You must have Medicare Parts A and B, and you have a 6-month window to enroll without any underwriting assessment insurers use to determine your health state. During open enrollment, an insurer cannot deny you due to underlying conditions.

NOTE: All supplement insurance companies must offer the same core basic benefits in that plan type. They do have different premiums. It is best to compare plans to get the best premium rates from our senior advocates.
